Critisism For OnBoard!
While many have said a lot of good things about OnBoard, what I would like to broadcast is criticism. I had once asked my colleague in QLC, “If OnBoard was in your dictionary, what would it mean?” His reply to that was “India Coffee House”. The same feedback was received from one of the members of the alpha program who took feedback survey. The feedback precisely was “I don’t find any use of OnBoard, all it does is encourages more gossip”.
Which is just so right because OnBoard is a reflection of yourself! OnBoard is merely a platform that encourages conversations, encourages communication, encourages flow of information irrespective of the department you belong to within a closed user group in an admin controlled environment. The choice is yours, what do you want to converse on. It could be a technical topic to discuss, it could be the ideation phase of your next product, it could be brainstorming a very innovative idea or it could be talking about the colour of skirt worn!
OnBoard is also a platform which will “discover” based on the network you form within the organization. Wisdom of crowds is what it will leverage based on the network you have built. Leverage it for gaining more knowledge or leverage it for gossiping is your decision. It is you who will take a decision on how to use it further.
And anyways, who says gossip is not information. HR in Infosys is using likes of OnBoard to simply get a pulse of the organization, a platform for venting out and a platform for HR to find out where they are going wrong! Infosys gives its employees ‘a voice’
